PDRTA, serving six counties in northeastern South Carolina, has significantly upgraded its transit operations through a partnership with ETA.
Jordan Dangelo, Program Project Manager at PDRTA, led the transition from an outdated system that provided unreliable data and limited tracking capabilities. After exploring various options, PDRTA chose ETA for a fully integrated, real-time solution.
A critical need for PDRTA was the ability to track vehicles across their expansive service area, which covers 3,500 square miles, and provide real-time data for better service management. ETA’s platform addressed these challenges, offering centralized fleet tracking and reliable communication, even for buses traveling more than an hour away from the base office.

PDRTA’s partnership with ETA has transformed their ability to provide reliable transit services. The platform’s centralized system has simplified workflows, reduced the need for multiple systems, and provided dispatchers with real-time insights into fleet performance.
With the data from ETA’s system, PDRTA has been able to report accurately on performance, helping to secure sustainable funding for future operations. In the past five to six years, PDRTA has more than doubled in size, expanding from two to six counties. ETA’s system now helps us track on-time performance, which is key to sustaining and improving our expanded services.
By partnering with ETA, PDRTA has enhanced its service offerings, improving public transportation access for residents across six rural counties in South Carolina. The collaboration has empowered PDRTA to deliver a more efficient, reliable, and integrated transit service to its community.
With our last system, we had incomplete data; the system was often not operational and there was degradation of the onboard tablet which made our data unreliable. Now with SPOT, we have a reliable single sign-on source that allows us to view all the data in real-time instead of nine different monitors pulled open to view the same data. I would recommend ETA for anyone who is currently looking at changing providers, we’ve had nothing but positive results.
