Boca Raton, FL – [Date] – ETA today announced that several transit agencies are rolling out TransitGPTTM, its conversational AI application designed to help transit professionals ask questions across connected agency data in plain language.

The deployments are expanding beyond ETA’s own systems, with TransitGPTTM being connected to data from third-party transit technology already used by participating agencies.

The rollout represents the first practical implementation of ETA’s broader TransitOSTM strategy: creating an architecture that can make data from different systems more useful together without requiring agencies to replace the technology they already operate.

Making Existing Data More Useful

Transit agencies rely on specialized systems across operations, maintenance, planning, workforce management, and other functions. Those systems contain valuable information, but answering questions across them can still require staff to move between reports, dashboards, and separate data sources.

TransitGPTTM provides a conversational interface for querying connected agency data. Staff can ask a question in plain language, receive an answer based on the available data, and continue following the question without needing to know where the underlying information is stored.

As ETA expands TransitGPTTM, connected data can include information from systems developed by ETA as well as third-party systems already operating at the agency.

“The agencies we work with didn’t hire us to replace their vendors. They hired us to make all of that data finally work together.”

John Maglio, CEO of ETA.

From TransitGPTTM to TransitOSTM

TransitGPTTM is the first application in ETA’s development of TransitOSTM, its vision for a common intelligence layer across the transit technology environment.

Today, the focus is on making agency data easier to query and understand. Over time, ETA intends to expand that architecture beyond answering questions to identifying conditions, triggering workflows, and supporting applications and actions across connected systems.

The approach is designed around the technology agencies already have. Rather than requiring an agency to standardize on a single vendor’s technology stack, ETA is building toward an architecture that can work across systems from multiple providers.

TransitGPTTM is the first working step toward that vision.

About ETA

ETA develops technology that helps transit agencies make better use of their existing systems and data. TransitGPTTM gives transit professionals a conversational way to explore connected agency data in plain language, while TransitOSTM represents ETA’s broader architecture for connecting intelligence and applications across the transit technology environment.
