Peak period

The time during the day when transit ridership is highest, typically occurring in the morning and afternoon. These periods are known as the AM peak period and PM peak period, respectively. Transit agencies provide the greatest level of service during these times to accommodate increased demand. The peak period is also referred to as commission hour or peak hour when specifically referring to the busiest hour within this timeframe.
