The process of creating and assigning weekly work schedules for transit operators. This includes selecting work assignments for regular runs, extra board positions, or specific shifts for the upcoming schedule. In agency-developed rostering, daily shifts are pre-packaged into weekly schedules from which operators select during the sign-up period. In cafeteria-style rostering, operators choose their own shifts and days off from a master list to create a personalized schedule. This process is also known by terms such as pick, bid, booking, mark-up, sign-up, line-up, or shake-up.
